There is only 1 decompression chamber in Belize and it's located in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, which means staying at Portofino Resort put your within 10 km of the chamber. We recommend you take out your own scuba diving insurance.
The dive boat is fully equipped with life vests, VHF marine radio, cell phone, compass, GPS, a medic first aid kit and 1,280 litres of emergency breathing oxygen (good for 2 hours). One divemaster is provided for every 8 divers. The resort also has further oxygen.
For non-diving related accidents there is a hospital and police station in San Pedro Town, 15 minutes away.
The resort reception has a safety box for guests' valuables and 24 hour premises security.
