The historical Melati Hotel, built in 1900, is right in town, enabling you to absorb a genuine Sulawesi cultural experience, yet still be just half an hour away from the dive sites. Gorontalo is not your typical vacation hotspot but a cute little town blessed with extraordinary marine life on its shores.
All the diving in Goronatalo is done from an outrigger boat. Outriggers are traditional Indonesian fishing craft. They have been used successfully in Tomini Bay for centuries, as the bay is protected and the waters are very calm.
The outrigger boat features:

2 x 40 HP outboard petrol engine

Wooden entry & exit ladders
Trips run from 08:00 - 13:00 hrs and include 2 dives, divemaster, as well as drinking water. Boat journey time is normally 10 - 40 minutes, but 1 site is 1 hour away.
Melati Hotel is a historical building with 19th century colonial Dutch architecture. Many of the original furniture and fittings still exist today. Relax outside your room and enjoy the surrounds of the well kept courtyard gardens.

Melati Hotel is located in the city centre, close to the banks, shops and restaurants. There is a national park nearby with waterfalls and hot spring baths that yo can visit during your vacation.
Gorontalo has several restaurants, serving Indonesian and Chinese cuisine, all within comfortable walking distance. There is also a nearby night market that sells traditional, delicious and cheap local Indonesian dishes - Milu Siram, Padang...
A basic complimentary breakfast served from (07:00-10:00 hrs) is tea, coffee, toast and jam, and omelette or boiled rice soup.
We do advise non-bahasa Indonesia speakers to bring at least a basic Indonesian language phrase book otherwise you will be taking pot luck when ordering food from the menus in the other local restaurants!
The nearest re-compression chamber is in Manado, 230 km away. There is no practical evacuation possible other than by road which takes 8 hours. This is an expensive procedure, so we advise you take out your own suitable dive insurance cover - see our insurance programme for a competitive quotation.
There is emergency oxygen on onboard the diving boat. 1 divemaster is provided for every 6 customers.
