Fantasy Reef

Brightly coloured nudibranchs are common at Fantasy Reef in the Similans

Fantasy Reef is a great spot to enjoy the grandeur of the large underwater granite boulder formations that cover the whole Similan Islands area of Thailand's Andaman Sea.

Located on the west coast of island no. 8, the friendliest fish in the Similans hang out here, including clown trigger fish, normally a difficult fish to approach, and cowtail rays in the sand. This is partly because Fantasy Reef has been closed to all Similan diving liveaboard charters since 1999 and therefore the fish are not habituated to and less wary of divers.
