Dive The World Privacy Policy

This page describes our privacy policy in relation to all forms of communication and correspondence between you, our customers and website users, and Dive The World.

As part of our efforts to help you understand how we handle the personal information you share with us, and in compliance for the new European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we’ve updated our privacy policy and cookies policy. We have also modified many of our internal practices and policies, because we are committed to compliance with the GDPR.

We understand the importance of keeping information about you confidential and secure. When you browse our site, except as provided for below, we do not collect any personal information about you. Other than as detailed below, we will only ever gather your personal information if you give it to us in the course of making your dive vacation booking.

The Dive The World website uses cookies to enable the website to work properly. In order to comply with all relevant regulations, we set out the circumstances of cookie usage below.

Analytics and customisation cookies: If you visit us from one of our affiliate partners or from our newsletter we use cookies to link any of your future inquiries to that source. This is not essential for your user experience but helps us with analytics and user acquisition. We also use cookies to customise your visitor experience. Our cookies are:

dtw_referral_id - This is a partnership cookie to track if you have come from an affiliate partner.

PHPSESSID - The purpose of this cookie is to sustain your website visit over various pages that you browse so that you do not 'drop out' while moving from page to page. It expires when you leave the website.

currency_translation, target_currency - The purpose of this cookie is to remember your selected currency on our website.

_landed - This cookie remembers you are a returning visitor and displays a slightly different layout.

We do use third-party affiliate partners for some services (e.g. Google). These companies may store cookies on your computer. We do not have responsibility for the policies and practices of these sites but we do not use any third party partners that do not have a clearly stated privacy policy. Such third party cookies are:

_ga - The purpose of this cookie is to create a unique id when you visit the site and to report this data about how the site is used anonymously. This anonymised statistical data is retained for two years. Data is sent to USA, which the EU and EEA consider the location utilised as 'Adequate' from a data protection standpoint.

_gat, _gat_newTracker - This cookie is used by Google analytics to provide data on how the site is used by visitors. This anonymised statistical data is retained for two years. Data is sent to UK, EU considered 'Adequate' from a data protection standpoint.

_gid - Analyses how the site is used so that we can optimise your experience when visiting the site. This cookie expires when you leave the site. Data is sent to USA, which the EU and EEA consider the location utilised as 'Adequate' from a data protection standpoint.

__atssc,__atuvc - Twitter. This cookie is used for twitter integration.

Cookie Name / Provider / Type / Expiry - Ads/ga-audiences / Google.com / Pixel / Session. Purpose: used by Google AdWords to re-engage visitors that are likely to convert to customers based on the visitors online behaviour across websites. Source : https://www.google.co.uk/ads/ga-audiences.

Email

We maintain a mailing list of people who may be interested in receiving promotional diving tour materials and other emails from Dive The World. We do not add your email address to this mailing list unless you specifically sign up for the service. You can opt out of this mailing list at any time.

Your email details will not be passed to any other third parties except where necessary to process your booking or inquiry.

Withdrawing Consent: You may withdraw consent for us to contact you, or for us to use your information for marketing purposes at any time. In order for us to stop contacting you with marketing materials you may click 'unsubscribe' at the bottom of any one our newsletters at any point. This will remove you from all future mailings. Alternatively, you may contact us via email requesting your removal.

Security of Credit Card Details

At Dive The World we take the security of your financial information very seriously. We have implemented an internal security system to maximise data security at every level.

In normal circumstances we will never collect your bank or credit card details. All credit card transactions will be processed on the secure server of our merchant processor using PCI compliant (Payment Card Industry) data security standards.

In the unusual circumstance that you want us to process a credit card transaction for you, we will need to collect your credit card details to process this transaction. We will ensure that such credit card information is stored securely and is not held online on any non-secure server. The credit card transaction will be processed on a PCI secure server.

Use of Personal Details

We retain the personal information you have given us in connection with your booking in our database. We will pass only the necessary personal information to your service provider as applicable in order to make your reservation. When you provide us with personal information, we are entitled to assume that you are happy for us to disclose these details to the vacation service provider unless you specifically state otherwise.

Such information includes your name, contact details, travel preferences, passport number, preferred currency/payment methods and special needs/disabilities/dietary requirements that you supply us or is supplied to us, including any information about other persons included in your booking. Your information is collected when you request information from us, contact us (and vice versa) or make a booking with us. You are responsible for ensuring that other members of your party are aware of the content of our Privacy Policy and consent to your acting on their behalf in all your dealings with us. We will update your information whenever we get the opportunity to keep it current, accurate and complete.

We will not share your personal information with anyone other than the service provider, under any circumstances.

We do ask our customers for feedback about their bookings with us via our questionnaire or student diaries. We may use the information you provide in this feedback as testimonials on our website for the interest of other customers.

Deletion of Any Personal Details

Your information will be stored within our booking system and our CRM both pre and post trip. Should you wish to have this data removed once your holiday booking has been completed, you will need to request this by contacting us direct.
