Mataking is a beautiful dive resort on a gem of an island off the east coast of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. It provides all the mystique and romance that any honeymooners could wish for: remote and idyllic. There are many opportunities for images to remember for romantic couples such as the view from the lookout tower over the island and beyond or along the white sand bank that connects the 2 islands at low tide.

Of course there is also plenty to keep you entertained when diving with many macro sites around the island and beyond in the Semporna Islands Marine Park. Diving at Sipadan may be possible to arrange at the resort but for most the local diving, combined with the relaxed but professional atmosphere of the resort, means there is no need to venture further afield.
There is a choice of accommodation. A spa which features a range of massages and therapies are great for spoiling her (or him) and you will both enjoy a relaxing cocktail from the jacuzzi as the sun sets after a fun day's diving. Mataking is great as a resort for those wanting peace and quiet with fun and interesting diving nearby, or as the perfect romantic getaway for couples or newly-weds. It is also popular as a destination for weddings both on dry land and underwater.

There are 8 stitled Chalets with beautiful sea views, including from the balcony and even the bathroom. These are delightfully furnished and are the recommended option for honeymooners or those seeking the highest level of luxury at the resort. There are also 12 Premier rooms which also enjoy partial seaviews from ground level and feature a patio. 12 Deluxe rooms are also at ground level and the view from the patio is of the tropical garden.
Each chalet and room is furnished with:

The resort has daily 3 single tank dive boat trips to Mataking, Mataking Kecil, Pandanan, Bohayan, Kelapuan, Timba Timba and Pom Pom, all between 5 and 20 minutes ride away. There are also twice weekly 3-dive trips to Sipadan Island, 80 minutes away.
There are 4 speed boats used for diving Mataking and the surroundings reefs. Each boat is 8-10 metres in length with twin 100 HP engines, fitted for a maximum of 10 divers. Divemasters and drinking water are provided on all the diving day trips.
Unlimited House Reef dives are also available in front of the resort and included in the packages - just walk in from beach. Night dives and sunset dives can also be arranged for an extra charge.

The resort dive centre has a fresh hot shower, equipment stations for guests' dive gear, and rinse tanks for equipment and underwater cameras.
