Why Dive at Nadi?

The Raiyawa wreck is an exciting and relatively new artificial reef created by the intentional sinking of the MV Raiyawa, a former government vessel. The wreck sits upright on the sandy seabed at around 25-30 metres (82-98 feet), making it suitable for advanced divers only due to the depth. The Raiyawa was a 40 metre (131 foot) steel-hulled vessel, and now offers swim-throughs, open cargo holds, and intact deck structures to explore. It attracts schools of fish, reef sharks, barracudas, and occasional eagle rays. Soft corals and sponges are also starting to colonise the structure. The wreck lies near a reef slope, so divers can explore both the wreck and nearby coral formations. The site is gaining popularity among scuba divers for its unique structure, marine life, and accessibility.

Diving in the Mamanucas is being surrounded by coral reefs teeming with marine life. The waters at Tivua Island are part of a protected marine sanctuary, ensuring healthy coral formations and abundant sea creatures. Divers can expect to see colourful reef fish such as parrotfish, angelfish, and butterflyfish, stunning soft and hard corals crawling with nudibranchs, octopus, and reef critters. There is also the opportunity to encounter white-tip and black-tip reef sharks, as well as green and hawksbill turtles.

Tivua is known for its excellent visibility, often exceeding 15-25 meters (50-85 feet). The clarity allows divers to fully appreciate the underwater scenery. The dry season from May to October has the best visibility but cooler water (~26°C / 79°F), whereas the wet season from November to April has warmer water (~29°C / 84°F), occasional rain, but still great diving. Fiji is not only a Pacific island paradise, but also a top quality diving destination. Watch this Fiji diving video with footage of its spectacularly colourful soft coral slopes.
