Perched idyllically on the west coast of Lembeh Island, overlooking the strait is Bastianos Lembeh Diving Resort. Bastianos is one of the most recognisable names in North Sulawesi diving and they now have a resort at Bunaken and one in Lembeh.
The key feature of Bastianos Lembeh is that it has surprisingly good facilities yet retains a very modest price. The resort has an elevated swimming pool and large open-air common room with superb sea views, free wi-fi internet connectivity, satellite TV and spa room - facilities one might expect from a mid- to high- budget holiday accommodation and not one of such clear affordability.
The rooms are also of a relative good quality, with Superior cottages that can be rented as air-conditioned or fan only, and Standard rooms for those looking for the cheapest deal. The cottages are stand alone properties for more guest privacy, whereas the Standard rooms are adjoining but close to the water's edge.
The resort prides itself on its social atmosphere. It is a popular choice for regular vacation divers just wanting to dive, have fun and meet people, not really for 'hardcore' diver photographers that want to do nothing but spend their time underwater.
Scuba divers will, however, appreciate the dedicated camera room and the well-appointed dive centre complete with DIN/Int compatible tanks as well as nitrox and the full range of rental equipment. So for Lembeh Strait diving that won't break the bank, with one of the region's best known operators, Bastianos Lembeh Resort is a good choice.

How to get there: Bastianos Lembeh Resort, located on the coast north of Bitung City, is a 1.5 hour road transfer from Manado Airport. For more information on getting there, see our Manado travel information section. The resort can schedule transfers to/from Manado Airport between 8 am - 5 pm.
Dive clubs and group discounts: Pay for 9 guests and 1 extra person can join free of charge, pay for 12 guests and 2 additional persons can join free of charge.

There are 10 Superior twin/double bed cottages at this resort, with their own private balconies set along an elevated hillside walkway. There are also 4 Standard twin/double bed rooms housed in a water side first floor terrace. All the rooms and Superior cottages have beautiful views overlooking the Lembeh Strait.

Diving Details...
Bastianos runs dive trips throughout the Lembeh Strait so you can see all the area's muck sites, as well as its coral reefs and wrecks.
The 4 dive boats feature:
Your 1st dive is at 8:30 hrs and 2nd at 11:00 hrs. The boat returns to the resort's small jetty for lunch at 12:30 hrs. There is an afternoon dive at 14:30 hrs, a mandarin dive at 17:00 hrs and a night dive at 18:00 hrs. Boat journey time is 2-30 minutes. The property also as its own house reef for shore dives, complete with a wreck.
Bastianos Lembeh offers enriched air nitrox (EANx) for suitably qualified divers. There is no maximum limit on bottom time on each dive so you can make the most of your Lembeh Strait scuba opportunities.
The Bastianos Lembeh Diving Resort dive station has rinse tanks and a camera room with rinse tank and charging stations. The crew will carry your equipment and rinse it during your stay. There are cold showers, equipment storage facilities and oxygen at the dive centre.

Meals are served buffet style in the resort's large, roofed, elevated but open air dining area, where the gentle breeze and the wonderful sea-views add to the dining experience. The set menu is a mixture of Asian and international cuisine with a few Indonesian specialties added to the mix.

The nearest re-compression chamber is at Malalayang Hospital in Manado, 45 km, or 1.5 hours west, from Lembeh. We advise you to take out your own diving insurance.
Bastianos Lembeh Resort's dive boats have first aid kits and emergency oxygen on longer trips. There is 4,200 litres of oxygen available back at the resort.
The nearest medical facility for minor injuries is Bitung Hospital, about 5 km away, or in Manado City for more serious accidents.
Bastianos Lembeh has a safety deposit box, free of charge, in reception. There is a 24 hour security guard service. There is a tourist police facility 15 minutes boat ride away.
