Set on a gentle slope leading to the sea, with Mount Agung rising behind it, Kubu Indah Dive & Spa Resort offers something increasingly rare in northeast Bali: genuine space. The bungalows are scattered across a grassy lawn shaded by coconut palms. Unlike many properties in nearby Tulamben, which can feel tightly packed, this resort breathes. You will not trip over your neighbour's fins here. You will stretch out, relax, and actually hear the waves at night.

Accommodation is well appointed without being fussy. Each bungalow sits within a tropical garden. The swimming pool area has a bar and a small restaurant overlooking the Lombok Strait. When the afternoon sun hits the water and the fishing boats drift past, it is hard to remember why you ever needed a busy city break. For those inevitable post-dive aches, the open-air spa uses organic, locally produced Sensatia Botanicals products. A massage after two morning dives? That is not a luxury. That is good planning.

Diving is the main event, and Kubu Indah Dive Resort runs its own 5-star PADI centre right in the middle of the property. You walk from your bungalow to the boat. No long drives. No crowded gear rooms. The resort's house reef sits within the Coral Triangle, and it is genuinely productive: macro life, schooling fish, and a reliable site for photographers. But the real advantage is location. From here, you access both the Kubu dive sites and the famous Tulamben area, including the USAT Liberty wreck. The resort uses local boats to reach the dive sites, rental equipment is available, and if you bring your own gear, the staff will rinse and store it for you. They want you to enjoy your holiday, not stand over a rinse bucket.

One feature sets Kubu Indah Dive Resort apart from many competitors: complimentary nitrox for qualified divers throughout their stay. That means longer bottom times on the Liberty wreck, less fatigue across a week of diving, and more value from your package. Not every operator in the area offers this. Kubu Indah Dive & Spa Resort does.

When you are not diving, Kubu Indah Dive Resort keeps you busy or lets you do nothing at all. The poolside bar and restaurant serve cold drinks and proper meals. The spa handles tired shoulders. The resort can also arrange day trips to Ubud, the Water Palace at Tirta Gangga, Besakih Temple, or even a sunrise trek up Mount Batur. A personal local driver takes you. No crowded tour buses. And if you want white water rafting on the Telaga Waja River, they can sort that too.

For scuba divers who want a relaxed, spacious base in northeast Bali, Kubu Indah Dive & Spa Resort is a strong choice. It is not the cheapest option in Kubu. But it is fair value for what you get: space, quiet, a 5-star dive operation, free nitrox, and a genuine Balinese atmosphere. Stay here, dive the Liberty and the local reefs, and finish each day with a massage and a cold beer by the pool. That is a good week.
Kubu Indah Dive Resort keeps things simple and spacious. The property has 10 air-conditioned bungalows, split into 2 categories. 6 garden rooms sit among the palm trees and lawns. 4 seaview rooms look out over the pool and the Lombok Strait beyond. None of them feel cramped.

Each bungalow comes with a private patio and outdoor furniture. A place to hang your wetsuit, dry your kit, or just sit with a coffee and watch Mount Agung do its morning thing. Inside, you get a choice of double or twin beds. Air conditioning and a ceiling fan keep the tropical heat manageable. The private bathroom has a hot water shower, towels, and basic soap. There is a minibar, a desk and chair, a dressing table with a mirror, and a cabinet for storage. Bedside lamps, a safety deposit box, and a fire extinguisher round out the practical side.

This is not luxury accommodation. But it is clean, well kept, and designed for scuba divers who need a good night's sleep and a quiet place to relax between dives. The garden setting helps. The bungalows are spaced out, so you are not sharing walls with strangers. And the seaview rooms catch the breeze and the afternoon light. A solid base for a week of diving the Liberty wreck and the Kubu sites.
The day starts early at Kubu Indah Dive Resort. A 6:30 am meeting for the first dive, typically at the Liberty wreck or a nearby site. You dive, return to the resort, and eat breakfast. The second dive goes out around 11 am. This could be a local Kubu site or part of a 2-tank trip to Tulamben. The Liberty wreck and the Tulamben sites are about 15 minutes away by boat.

If the second dive is a single local dive, you will go out again at 2 or 3 pm. If it is a 2-tank trip, the resort provides a complimentary lunch between dives. You get 2 or 3 dives per day, a mix of boat and shore diving. The house reef at Kubu is open for diving from 7 am to 8 pm.

Dive site options:
Kubu Indah Dive Resort accesses 2 main areas. First, the local Kubu sites, including the resort's own productive house reef: macro life, schooling fish, and a reliable backup when conditions are not right for travelling. Second, the famous Tulamben area, including the Liberty wreck, the Drop Off, and Coral Garden. The resort does not own its own dive boat. Instead, they transport guests by minibus to the shore, where local hired boats take you to the sites.

Dive type options:
- House reef diving. Available from early morning to evening. Easy access, good for macro photography and night dives.
- Shore diving at local Kubu sites.
- Boat diving to Tulamben and the Liberty wreck.
- Night diving. Ask at the dive centre.
- Introductory dives for beginners.
- PADI courses from Discover Scuba Diving up to Divemaster. The centre offers Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and professional level training. You can start the theory at home and do the water work on holiday.

On-site facilities:
Kubu Indah Dive Resort has its own 5-star PADI dive centre located right in the middle of the property. You walk from your bungalow to the dive station. The station includes separate equipment storage, rinse tanks, a camera rinse tank, a toilet, and a fresh water shower. Rental gear is available: BCDs, regulators, mask and fin sets, wetsuits, dive computers, and torches. The centre uses 12-litre aluminium tanks with both DIN and INT valves. Air and enriched air nitrox are both offered. Certified nitrox divers get complimentary enriched air.

If you bring your own gear, the staff will store it, prepare it for your dives, and rinse it in fresh water when you return. You finish your dive day, hand over your kit, and go to the pool bar. That is the level of service.

Safety and emergency:
The resort maintains oxygen and first aid kits both at the dive station and on every dive trip. A mobile phone and radio are carried as well. One dive guide is provided for every four divers. All guides hold emergency first response training.

The nearest recompression chamber is in Denpasar, roughly 2.5 hours away by road. The staff will carry your gear to and from the water, which sounds like a convenience but also prevents tired divers from stumbling under heavy tanks on uneven shore entries. A sensible safety measure dressed as a service.
Kubu Indah Dive Resort leans into relaxation. You come here to dive, eat, sleep, and let the rest of the week take care of itself. The infinity edge swimming pool looks out over the Lombok Strait. The poolside bar serves cold drinks. Between dives, you float, sip something, and watch fishing boats drift past. That is a valid way to spend an afternoon.

The spa deserves its own mention. Open-air treatment rooms sit within the tropical garden. The massages use techniques passed down through generations of Balinese villagers. Not the hotel school version, but the real thing. Local, organic Sensatia Botanicals products are used throughout. After a week of shore entries and current work, a deep tissue massage is not an indulgence, it is maintenance.

When you want to leave the property, Kubu Indah Dive Resort can arrange a personal local driver. No crowded tour buses. You tell them where you want to go, and they take you. Popular day trips include:
- Ubud shopping, sightseeing, the monkey forest, and rice terraces at Tegalalang.
- East Bali wonders: Tirta Gangga water palace, the traditional village of Tenganan, and the bat temple at Goa Lawah.
- A sunrise trek up Mount Batur. You leave the resort at 2 am. The view from the top makes the early start worthwhile.
- Besakih Temple, the mother temple of Bali, combined with a rice field walk near Sideman.
- Lovina on the north coast, including hot springs and a Buddhist temple.
- Bedugul, with its lake temples, Gitgit waterfall, and a coffee plantation stop.
- White water rafting on the Ayung River (easy) or the Telaga Waja River (rapids and a small waterfall).

Back at the resort, you will find a small library and games collection, internet access, laundry service, and babysitting if you need it. International telephone calls can be made from reception. But really, the pool, the spa, and the view are the main attractions.

Facilities at a glance: Infinity edge swimming pool with ocean views - Poolside bar - Restaurant serving Indonesian and international food - Alam Spa with open-air treatment rooms - Complimentary internet access - Laundry service - Babysitting and cots available - Library and games - Guided tours with personal local driver - International telephone
Breakfast at Kubu Indah Dive Resort is included in your package. The spread covers fresh fruit, juice, homemade bread, muesli, yoghurt, eggs, bacon, and coffee or tea. You eat by the pool, looking out at the sea. A relaxed start before the first dive.

For lunch and dinner, most guests stay on site. The restaurant sits poolside and serves a mix of international and Indonesian food. The menu includes Balinese satay with rice, prawn crackers and peanut sauce. Also beef stroganoff, various pasta dishes, fresh seafood, and a barbecue option. There are homemade baguettes, sandwiches, jaffles, salads, and soups. Plus Balinese snacks and specialities if you want to try local flavours. The kitchen handles special dietary requests. Just ask.

The poolside bar keeps cold drinks coming throughout the day. Beer, soft drinks, fresh juices, and the usual cocktails. After 2 morning dives, a Bintang and a plate of satay by the infinity pool is a fine way to spend a surface interval.

Other dining options exist, but they are a short drive away in Tulamben. Most guests find little reason to leave. The food at Kubu Indah Dive & Spa Resort is solid, the view is excellent, and the walk from your bungalow to the table is about thirty seconds. That is hard to beat.
