Rocio Del Mar is a 110 ft (34m) long steel-hulled liveaboard that explores Mexico's Pacific waters all year round, visiting Socorro, the Midriff Islands and the Sea of Cortez depending on your choice of itinerary. Up to 22 divers can be accommodated on board in cabins with private bathrooms on a range of different trips operating out of Puerto Penasco or San Jose del Cabo.

You can enjoy a free glass of beer or wine in the air-conditioned lounge or dedicated dining area, although the open air shaded sun deck is the most popular spot on Rocio Del Mar, with its soft furnishings and ever-changing views of the Pacific ocean. Sea kayaks are available for those who wish to explore the islands during surface times.

10 liveaboard crew attend to your every need and the scuba diving activities are conducted both from the stern of the mothership and from inflatable tenders, depending on the nature of the dive site. Nitrox is available at additional charge. The well-organized dive deck includes a camera table and rinse tank plus individual equipment stations.

Rocio Del Mar is comfortable and roomy without being palatial and is sure to satisfy the needs of those who seek an unforgettable Mexican liveaboard experience.

The Rocio del Mar liveaboard has 10 Stateroom cabins with ensuite bathrooms - 8 on the main deck and 2 on the upper deck. 6 main deck cabins are twin bed, 2 are double bed. The 2 upper deck cabins have a double bed and a single bed.

Rocio Del Mar is located at the new marina in Puerto Los Cabos in San Jose del Cabo. A welcome dinner will be served once all guests have boarded. After being greeted by the captain and crew and shown to your cabin, the liveaboard will depart after midnight. Meals are provided throughout the day as you travel to San Benedicto, with arrival scheduled for the evening of the following day

Day 1
The Rocio Del Mar sets sail from Puerto Penasco late afternoon. Upon arrival, the tour leader will assist you by assigning your cabin and dive station, allowing you to unpack and prepare your gear for the next day's diving. Please be ready to present your scuba certification and dive insurance documents. Dinner will be served to conclude your first evening.

Core Days

As the liveaboard navigates the waters around San Pedro Martir, you might witness the breathtaking spectacle of humpback whales breaching in the distance. This very special Rocio del Mar liveaboard cruise visits the standard Socorro Islands plus the remote and exceptional Clarion Island. Once on board in San Jose del Cabo, the crew will welcome you, show you to your cabin, and serve dinner. The vessel departs after midnight, arriving at San Benedicto the following evening. All meals at sea are provided.

Diving the Socorro Islands offers an unforgettable experience defined by thrilling, large animal encounters. The Boiler at Socorro offers one of the world's most thrilling manta ray encounters. Each day offers a new discovery, blending the thrill of big animal encounters with the intricate beauty of a healthy, thriving reef system, all set against the backdrop of the Baja California desert.
Rocio Del Mar will explore the hauntingly beautiful wrecks of the Salvatierra and Fang-Ming, where steel and timber have been reclaimed by the sea, now serving as thriving artificial reefs. These underwater museums are bustling with schools of snapper, glinting grunts, and the watchful eyes of large groupers. This theme of abundance continues at the stunning Swanny Reef, a colorful coral and sponge-covered pinnacle that acts as a magnet for marine life, and at the legendary Gordo Banks, a deep-water seamount where massive schools of jacks, tuna, and even the occasional sailfish or shark patrol the blue.
The liveaboard adventure extends to the remote and rugged Isla Las Animas, a desert island sanctuary where you will find pristine walls and sea lion colonies, and La Reina, a site known for its dramatic oceanic manta ray encounters. The crown jewel of this region, however, is Cabo Pulmo National Park. This protected marine reserve is a living testament to conservation, home to the only hard coral reef in the Sea of Cortez. To help you plan your days on the Rocio del Mar liveaboard, all meals are served in the air-conditioned indoor dining saloon, where you will be attended by the waitstaff. The daily schedule will be active, beginning with a light pre-dive breakfast (such as pastries, fruit, and toast) to energize you before your first dive. Following this, you will return for a full cooked breakfast. The day then progresses with a pattern of scuba diving and dining: after 2 more dives, a substantial lunch is served, and after the day's final dive, the group gathers for dinner.

Rocio del Mar's 5-star chef takes great pride in crafting a diverse menu, baking fresh bread and preparing daily homemade soups. You can expect an array of international cuisine with delectable Mexican specialties. For each meal service, you will typically have a choice of 3 different dishes. For example, breakfast may feature eggs, chilaquiles, waffles, muffins, or pancakes, while lunch and dinner could include options like fresh fish tacos, a pasta dish, or a traditional meat entrée. To keep your energy levels high between dives, complimentary snacks such as fresh fruit, bread, toast, and ice cream are available.

Your thirst is equally catered for, with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, soft drinks, local beer, and wine provided free of charge throughout the liveaboard safari, alongside ample drinking water.

Please note that the cruise dining service begins upon your boarding on the first day. Rocio del Mar are also pleased to accommodate any dietary requirements; please be sure to send them advanced notice to ensure the chef can prepare for your needs.

Notes: In the event of cancellation by Rocio Del Mar for any reason, there will be no reimbursement so the liveaboard operator states that it is mandatory for all guests to have travel insurance coverage for this event.
Mexico is a popular destination with limited liveaboard spaces. We recommend you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Dive experience: The only requirement to join liveaboard cruises in Mexico on Rocio Del Mar is an open water diving certification, although at least 50 prior logged dives are recommended. Divers should do their best to ensure they are comfortable at diving before coming on board.

Cruise price per person includes: Cabin accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, drinking water, soft drinks, hot drinks, local beers and wine, dives (as detailed in the trips above), experienced English-speaking divemasters (1 guide for 7 divers), standard tanks, weights and weightbelts, Nautilus Lifeline (personal diver locator), port fees, and sales tax on cruise price.

Cruise price per person excludes (mandatory, unless customer provides own): Scuba equipment (bring your own wetsuit, mask and fins), surface marker buoy, dive computer, whistle, dive and travel insurance, national park fee: Sea of Cortez (USD 6 per dive day) and Socorro (USD 201 per dive day), possible fuel surcharge. Note: park fees are waived for retirees and pensioners over the age of 60 years old. A 75% discount on park fees is available for active students and teachers. Unless otherwise stated, all the listed items need to be paid on arrival (cash or credit card).

Optional extras: Transfers to the boat from the airport/hotel (USD 150 per person return from Phoenix airport), nitrox fills for enriched air divers (USD 140 for the trip). How to get there: Socorro: The Rocio del Mar liveaboard departs in the morning from San Jose del Cabo for trips to the Socorro islands. Guests fly into nearby Los Cabos international airport. You should plan to arrive the day before departure. Boarding is at 5 pm with departure late in the evening. The marina is 25 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes from downtown San Jose del Cabo. An airport shuttle service can be arranged. The boat will spend the last night of the cruise in the harbor and disembark at 8:30 am on the last day.
Sea of Cortez: For liveaboard diving tours to the Sea of Cortez, Rocio del Mar departs in the evening from Puerto Penasco, Mexico, on the northern coast of the Sea of Cortez. Most guests fly through Phoenix Sky Harbor airport, 4 hours drive from Puerto Penasco. An airport shuttle service can be arranged. Boarding is at 5 pm and the boat departs shortly thereafter with the first dive at 7 am the following morning. Guests disembark on the final day at 7 am and they should book flights from Phoenix no earlier than 2 pm.

Non-diver rate: None.

Single supplement (if you do not want to share accommodation): This is optional - single travelers may choose to share a cabin and pay the regular rate, or pay a supplement of 100% of the published price for their own private cabin.

Dive clubs and group discounts: Pay for 9 guests and 1 extra person can join the cruise in a Standard cabin free of charge.

Whole boat charter rate (per night): Pay for 18 guests and 2 additional persons can join the cruise free of charge (total 20 guests).
