Core Days
The Banda Sea deserves its reputation as one of the world's best dive regions and the Banda Islands never fail to deliver great diving on colourful and thriving coral reefs that attract hundreds of different species of fish. Dogtooth tuna and mobula rays, whales and dolphins, banded sea kraits, massive schools of fusiliers, there is an extraordinary variety of marine life and the sheer volume of fish life is astonishing. Ambon Bay is a centre for incredible muck diving and tiny critters. It is famed for its endemic Ambon scorpionfish, plus Halimeda ghostpipefish, spiny devilfish, rhinopias, waspfish, fingered dragonets, flamboyant cuttlefish, and a huge range of morays.
The Forgotten Islands are a truly remote and thrilling 'frontier' dive destination. Deep in the Moluccas of Eastern Indonesia, its isolation has meant thriving marine life. Expect walls with extremely healthy coral reefs and immaculate seamounts. 'Big stuff' can include schooling hammerheads, silvertip, white and black tip reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, mobula rays, bumphead parrotfish, eagle rays, turtles, thresher sharks, along with schooling jacks, barracuda, surgeonfish and fusiliers. 'Small stuff' includes pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, ghost pipefish, octopus, triggerfish, lionfish, scorpionfish and dragon shrimps.
Wake up and come out of your comfortable cabin to have some tea and biscuits in the dining room. Depth, currents, potential marine encounters, and security devices are covered during the dive briefing that introduces the 1st morning dive. You will hear 3 other dive briefings on most days, as there is also a 2nd morning dive, an afternoon dive and a sunset or night dive that concludes the underwater action for the day. Some other days the 4th dive will be replaced by a pleasant walk on a deserted beach or a visit to a nearby village.
A breakfast of toast, cereals, omelette and French toast, plus fresh fruits are served after the first dive of the day. A 3 meal lunch is served around 12:30 hrs in the dining room, while dinner is after the night dive and features hot soup, a choice between 2 main courses, and a delicious homemade dessert. After dinner a photo show about the diving encounters of the day gather all divers in the saloon for enchanting exchanges of ideas of fish names and memories from previous trips.
Only 2 morning dives are scheduled for the last full day of the trip as in the afternoon since the liveaboard starts its way to port, where it will spend the night moored in the harbour.

Day 11
Arise to a continental breakfast, goodbyes and more photos with the crew. Then you will be transferred to Alor airport or your hotel. The cruise director will also help you with check in procedures.
Note these trips sometimes run in reverse or use different ports so please study the departure information.

The mid-day schedule allows for an practice dive, enabling guests to familiarise themselves with their own equipment. After a nourishing evening meal, the Ondina journeys through the night, heading toward the deep heart of Cenderawasih Bay.

The unparalleled draw of Cenderawasih Bay is the guaranteed opportunity for lengthy, meaningful interactions with whale sharks near the Kwatisore bagans. The Ondina spends dedicated time here, allowing guests to enter the water to dive or snorkel alongside these colossal, docile filter feeders, providing a phenomenal, memorable big animal encounter unique to the bay.
The geological isolation of Cenderawasih has fostered exceptional endemism. The tour explores pristine hard coral formations around Pulau Roon, Pulau Auri, and Pulau Sodompari. Specific dive sites such as Spag Point and Nepanyaur Bay are renowned for their massive, thriving hard coral heads and barrel sponges, offering ideal conditions to observe the unique Cenderawasih epaulette shark or brightly coloured jawfish endemic to this basin.
The Ondina also incorporates sites of historical significance, particularly the Japanese World War II wrecks scattered across Manokwari Bay. These fascinating, sunken relics now function as busy artificial reefs, densely populated by schools of fish and large invertebrates. Further afield, the volcanic islands of Numfor and Pulau Manim, along with Tanjung Mangguar, offer deep water diving on rugged volcanic ridges and coral slopes, highlighting the diversity of the Ondina’s route.
The comprehensive coverage continues at remote reef crests including Wild Fish Ridge, Pulau Rouw, Sewadeh, and Slamipien, targeting vibrant hard coral gardens and opportunities for big fish sightings in the clean pelagic water.

Raja Ampat National Park North & Central

Trip highlights: shark action, manta rays, turtles, great macro life/ marine diversity, schooling fish & big pelagics

Diving environment: advanced divers, caverns, drift diving, healthy reefs, wall diving

Dive sites and activities: from Raja Ampat: Pulau Saonek, Dampier Strait, Mioskon, Sawandarek, Cape Kri, Gam, Mansuar, Yengefo, Airborek, Jef Fam, Aljui Bay, Kawe, Wayag. Pearl farm visit, walk to see birds of paradise, village visit, climb on Wayag Island.

Day 1
Pick up in Sorong and transfer to the Ondina. Welcome drink, cabin allocation, and safety briefing follow. A light lunch settles you in, then the afternoon brings a check dive at Pulau Saonek. Dinner is served as the sun drops. The fun has just started.

Core Days
The Ondina liveaboard spends its week threading through the central and northern corridors of Raja Ampat National Park. This region holds a world record: more fish species counted on a single dive than anywhere else. Over 1,400 species inhabit these waters, with more than 20 found nowhere else on Earth. The reefs themselves boast 75 percent of the world's known coral species. You wake to tea and biscuits, attend a briefing covering depth, currents, and safety, then roll in. Most days offer 4 dives. On some afternoons, the fourth dive gets swapped for a beach walk or a village visit.
The Dampier Strait delivers the headline sites. Cape Kri holds that species record. You drop onto a current-swept point where fusiliers, trevally, and barracuda stack in layers. Sawandarek offers pristine hard corals and passing sharks. Mioskon and Gam provide the classic Raja Ampat topography: limestone karsts that continue below the surface as canyons, swim-throughs, and caverns. At Yengefo, sites like Mayhem and Citrus Ridge serve up dense soft coral gardens and the chance to spot wobbegongs resting on ledges. Jef Fam and the Fam island group include Galaxy, Keruo Reef, and Melissa's Garden, names that reflect the density of life. Between dives, you climb the Fam viewpoint for a photograph that captures the scale of the archipelago.
The Ondina pushes north toward Kawe and Wayag. At Kawe, Eagle Rock and Black Rock attract pelagics - dogtooth tuna, schooling hammerheads on a good day, and reef sharks patrolling the ridges. You cross the equator somewhere along the way, a small ceremony marking the moment. Wayag offers the iconic Raja Ampat landscape: dozens of limestone islets scattered across a turquoise lagoon. You dive Pelagic Rock and The Cathedral, then climb to the Wayag viewpoint. The view from the top stops conversation. Below, the Ondina sits at anchor, surrounded by water in shades of green and blue that seem impossible until you see them yourself.
Non-diving moments add texture. A sunrise excursion takes you into the forest to watch birds of paradise display, the red feathers of the king bird or the elaborate dance of the Wilson's. You visit a pearl farm in Aljui Bay, learning how the industry operates before diving the company docks at night. A stop at Airborek village introduces you to the local way of life: stilt houses, children waving from canoes, and the slow pace of island time. Between it all, there is always the water. The Ondina balances action with rest, current with calm, and big reefscapes with the small macro treasures hidden in the rubble.

Final Day
A continental breakfast precedes farewells to the crew and your dive buddies in Sorong.

Raja Ampat National Park South & Central

Diving environment: advanced divers, caverns, drift diving, healthy reefs, wall diving

Dive sites and activities: from Raja Ampat: Saonek, Dampier Strait, Saporkren, Airborek, Manta Point, Fam, Misool: Fiabacet, Wayilbatan, Pulau Boo, Magic Mountain, Yilliet or Romeo, Daram Islands. Walk to see birds of paradise, visit to the village of Airborek, view point in Penemu Island, visit the blacktip reef shark nursery beach in Yiliet.
For cruises that use the port of Tual - Raja Ampat: Misool: Daram Islands: Andiamo, Candy Store, Warna Bewarna, Nudi Rock, Tank Rock, Pulau Boo, Shadow Reef (Magic Mountain); Pulau Pisang, Mommon, Kurkap, Pulau Bui, Tayandu, visit the blacktip reef shark nursery beach in Yiliet, Tiki-Tiki waterfall, Pasir Panjang beach.

Day 1
Pick up in Sorong and transfer to the Ondina. A welcome drink and safety briefing precede lunch. The afternoon brings a check dive at one of the nearby reefs near Yenbeser. Dinner is served as the boat prepares for the overnight navigation toward Waisai for park permits.

Core Days
The Ondina liveaboard traces a route from the central Dampier Strait down to the southern jewel of Misool. This region holds the global record for marine biodiversity: over 1,400 fish species, more than 20 found nowhere else, and 75 percent of the world's known coral types.
The Dampier Strait delivers the famous central sites. Sardine Reef and Blue Magic are current-swept points where fusiliers, trevally, and barracuda stack in dense columns. Cape Kri, another record-holder, offers layered fish life from the shallows down to the drop-off. Mioskon and Sawandarek Jetty provide cleaner conditions and the chance to spot wobbegongs on ledges. At Airborek, you dive the village docks, a muck-style site where cryptic things hide in the rubble, then visit the stilt-house village itself. Children wave from canoes. The pace slows. Between dives, you climb the Penemu Island viewpoint for the classic Raja Ampat photograph: limestone karsts scattered across a lagoon in shades of green and blue.
The Ondina then pushes south toward Misool. This is the core of the southern itinerary. Fiabacet and Wayilbatan offer vertical walls draped in pastel soft corals and giant sea fans. Gorgonian Passage lives up to its name. Four Kings presents 4 limestone pinnacles rising from deep water, each surrounded by schooling fish and patrolling reef sharks. At Pulau Boo, you dive Magic Mountain, a submerged seamount where dogtooth tuna and grey reef sharks circle in the blue. Yilliet or Romeo provide sloping reefs with excellent hard coral coverage. Between dives, the crew takes you to a blacktip reef shark nursery on Yilliet beach. In the shallows, tiny pups glide over the sand, barely bigger than your forearm. It is a quiet, hopeful sight.
Non-diving moments add texture throughout. A sunrise excursion on the Waigeo coast takes you into the forest to watch birds of paradise display - the red feathers of the king bird or the elaborate dance of the Wilson's. You visit the pearl farm at Saporkren, then dive the docks at night when the underwater lights attract unusual critters. At Fam, 3 day dives at Melissa's Garden, Keruo Channel, and Galaxy precede an ascent to the Penemu viewpoint. The Daram Islands offer diving at Andiamo and Candy Store, sites known for pristine coral and good visibility. The Ondina balances current-swept pinnacles with sheltered lagoons, big pelagics with small macro treasures, and underwater action with genuine cultural contact.
Only 2 morning dives are scheduled on the last full day because the Ondina needs the afternoon to steam back to Sorong. You spend the final night moored in the harbour.

Final Day
A continental breakfast precedes farewells to the crew and your dive buddies. Leave the boat in the morning, bags packed, logbook full, with the south of Raja Ampat firmly in your memory.

Raja Ampat, Banda Sea & Ambon

Trip highlights: shark action, manta rays, turtles, great macro life/ marine diversity, schooling fish & big pelagics

Diving environment: advanced divers, caverns, drift diving, healthy reefs, off the beaten track, wall diving

Dive sites and activities: from Raja Ampat: Misool, Daram, Baby Rock, Nudi City, Boo Rocks, Yillet, Fiabacet, Tank Rock, Whale Rock, Shadow Reef, Koon, Banda Islands: Karang Hatta, Banda Neira, Ai, Run, Lava Flow, Gunung Api, cultural visit, Batu Kapal, Suanggi, Nusa Laut, Ameths Knoll, Ambon: Twilight Zone

Day 1
The Ondina departs from Sorong for this exceptional transit trip through Raja Ampat and the Banda Sea. A boat and safety briefing, a delicious lunch, check dive, and a tasty dinner are all included in the first day of your vacation. The fun has only just started!

Core Days
This cross-season safari starts in Raja Ampat's deep south, Misool, celebrated for its phenomenal coral density and karst topography. Diving focuses on Fiabacet, Boo, Yillet, and the Daram Islands, where pinnacle sites like Tank Rock and Whale Rock present towering vertical walls saturated with soft corals. Scuba divers explore Baby Rock and Nudi City for macro subjects, while the exposed Magic Mountain provides the high-energy thrill of aggregated schooling fish and the opportunity to observe manta rays when the feeding currents are running.
The expedition then ventures across the deep Banda Sea, where exceptional visibility prevails. The Ondina explores the volcanic arc, including the island of Gunung Api, known for the unique experience of diving alongside numerous banded sea snakes. Further dive sites like Koon Island and the deep wall at Batu Kapal attract large pelagic species, with nutrient-rich flows ensuring healthy, thriving reef systems and opportunities to see dogtooth tuna and schooling surgeonfish.
A significant cultural element is the land tour at the Banda Islands. Dives around Karang Hatta, Run, and Ai showcase pristine coral life, providing a perfect counterpoint to the historical excursion ashore at Banda Neira. Here, guests can explore the remnants of the colonial Spice Trade. The Ondina utilises the isolated reefs of Suanggi and Ameths Knoll before its final repositioning, concluding near Nusa Laut.
The grand finale is the specialist macro haven of Ambon Bay. The Twilight Zone, a renowned black sand site, offers world-class muck diving, where patient searching reveals a diverse array of cryptic creatures. Dedicated guides assist in locating rare subjects, including the endemic Ambon scorpionfish and flamboyant cuttlefish, concluding your adventure with the Ondina liveaboard in style.

Final Day
Following a final breakfast on board, guests disembark the Ondina in Ambon.

Raja Ampat, Lembeh & Halmahera

Trip highlights: shark action, manta rays, turtles, great macro life/ marine diversity, schooling fish & big pelagics

Diving environment: advanced divers, beginner divers, caverns, drift diving, healthy reefs, off the beaten track, wall diving

Dive sites and activities: Raja Ampat: Green Light, Kri, Mioskon, Sardine Reef, Cape Kri, Red Bird of Paradise, Mikes Point, Airborek, Misool, Farondi, Fiabacet, Boo, Wayibatan, Pulau Pisang, Halmahera: Patintie Straits, Rics Rock, Goraichi Islands, Pulau Goweba, Pantai Sago, Lembeh Strait, Angel's Window, WWII Japanese Wreck, Hairball, Bangka Island. Visit the Tangkoko Nature Reserve to see the tarsiers.

Day 1
Board at Sorong Harbour. Complete the security briefing and crew introductions, then set up your personal dive gear. An afternoon check dive confirms everything works as it should. Dinner is served, and the Ondina pushes off into the night, orienting toward the central Raja Ampat island groups.

Core Days
The Ondina liveaboard opens its account in the Dampier Strait. This is high-energy diving. Cape Kri and Sardine Reef are current-swept points where trevally, barracuda, and snapper stack in dense schools. Mioskon and Green Light offer colossal soft coral growth on submerged bommies, and both sites are reliable for spotting the endemic wobbegong shark lying flat on a ledge. A surface interval takes you ashore near Airborek to witness the red bird of paradise. The males display in the canopy , bright red feathers, elaborate courtship dances, a flash of colour against the green. You dive Saporkren at night, where the docks attract the kind of weird, wonderful macro life that hints at what lies ahead.
The Ondina then commits to Misool in the deep south. Farondi and Fiabacet deliver vertical walls draped in pastel soft corals. Boo and Wayilbatan offer submerged pinnacles where reef sharks circle and schools of fusiliers stream past. Mike's Point is a standout: vibrant reef action, good current, and excellent opportunities for finding pygmy seahorses tucked into gorgonian fans. The biodiversity here is off the scale. You finish the Misool section with a visit to the blacktip shark nursery on Yilliet beach where tiny pups gliding through the shallows, barely bigger than your forearm.
The expedition then crosses into Halmahera. The Patintie Straits and the Goraichi Islands are exposed to tidal currents, which means soft corals grow thick and fish school in serious numbers. Ric's Rock, discovered by the Ondina's own manager, is a signature site. You drop onto a current-exposed seamount, hook into the lee, and watch dogtooth tuna and grey reef sharks circle the ridge. Pulau Goweba and Pantai Sago offer sloping reefs and walls, with a school of a thousand barracuda hanging in the blue at the latter. A WWII Japanese wreck adds a historical note, its hull now encrusted in corals and home to batfish and schooling snapper. Bangka Island provides cleaner conditions and a final taste of wide-angle diving before the focus shifts entirely.
The final destination is Lembeh Strait. This is muck diving. Black volcanic sand slopes into dark water, and everything strange lives here. Hairball and Angel's Window are the classic sites. You move slowly, torch beam scanning the rubble. Flamboyant cuttlefish pulse across the bottom in waves of purple and yellow. Mimic octopus changes shape and colour as it walks. Hairy frogfish, stargazers, ornate ghost pipefish, the list goes on. Between dives, you take a land excursion to the Tangkoko Nature Reserve. A guide points out tarsiers, small nocturnal primates with enormous eyes, clinging to trees in the fading light. It is a quiet, memorable end to a voyage that has covered 3 completely different diving worlds.

Final Day
An early breakfast precedes disembarkation from the Ondina at Bitung. You have crossed from the coral capitals of Raja Ampat to the current-swept seamounts of Halmahera, then finished in the macro heaven of Lembeh.

A rewarding dive cruise in Indonesia depends on a dependable schedule, and the Ondina liveaboard provides a daily routine and exceptional meals, which the operator rates as very important. Scuba divers follow a consistent pattern built around 4 dives and an East-meets-West style of dining. Catering starts with lunch on the first day of the cruise.

The morning routine begins with a gentle wake-up, allowing you to enjoy complimentary tea and biscuits in the dining room before the initial dive briefing. This briefing covers the first of two morning dives, the afternoon dive, and the final sunset or night dive.

After the first morning dive, a full breakfast is served, including fresh fruits, cereals, omelette, French toast, and toast. Lunch, a 3-course meal, follows around 12:30 pm in the dining room. The main meals showcase a varied East-meets-West mix, drawing on Indonesian, Chinese, Italian, and Japanese culinary traditions. The food is served buffet-style with waitress service in the saloon, offering a choice of two main dishes per sitting. Examples of the variety include Indonesian Nasi Campur, Chinese Sweet and Sour Chicken, Italian Lasagne, or Japanese Vegetable Tempura.

Dinner is served after the night dive and is a satisfying conclusion to the day's activity, featuring hot soup, a choice between 2 main courses, and a delicious homemade dessert. After dinner, divers often gather in Ondina's saloon for a photo show, sharing ideas about the marine life encountered that day.

The 4-dive daily routine may be occasionally replaced by a land activity, such as a pleasant walk on a deserted beach or a visit to a nearby village. On the last full day of the trip, only 2 morning dives are scheduled, as the Ondina sets its course for port in the afternoon, where it moors for the night.

Complimentary beverages include coffee, tea, water, biscuits, fruit, and one soft drink per meal. Beer, wine, and espresso are available for purchase. All dietary requirements can be accommodated; please ensure you send us notice of your needs in advance.
