Samata is a wooden-hulled, Sulawesi-built schooner which focuses on all-inclusive liveaboard cruises. Samata means 'tranquility' and 'balance' in Sanskrit and the boat is well-named since it is a smooth and sturdy vessel and, at 42 metres in length, is a substantial boat.
From May to September each year, the liveaboard operates in the Komodo Island and Nusa Tenggara area, operating from Labuan Bajo so no time is spent getting to and from the national park. October and November sees Samata cruise the Banda Sea, Forgotten Islands and Ambon. Then from December to April, it relocates to Raja Ampat in West Papua.
There are a variety of trip durations operated and the schedule is open to change since, with a maximum of only 10 divers, Samata is a popular private whole boat charter. So if you have a group and want to set your own itinerary then the Samata's schedule can be flexible to your needs.
With 14 staff to 10 guests you will be more than well looked after and, under French ownership, both English and French are spoken on board. Soft drinks and beer are included in the price and there is a wide choice of wines as you would expect under French ownership.
There are delightful wood panelled floors and furniture throughout, including the 4 double en-suite cabins, the air-conditioned saloon and dining area, plus the outdoor seating areas and sun deck. There is plenty of relaxation space on board. So for couples or groups seeking the best of Komodo in great comfort and style, you could do worse than book a Komodo Island liveaboard trip on board KLM Samata and find your own tranquility and balance.
