Core Days
This 'Sinai Classic' dive safari is a journey through the most legendary sites of the northern Red Sea, blending world-class wrecks with vibrant reefs and breathtaking walls. Prepare for a highlight of the diving world: the wreck of the Thistlegorm. This legendary WWII transport ship sits on the seabed with its cargo of motorcycles, trucks, and munitions remarkably intact, offering an unforgettable journey through history that is also packed with marine life. You'll also explore other historic wrecks like the Dunraven, an inverted steamer where crocodilefish and glassfish school inside its hull, and the Kingston at Shag Rock, a smaller cargo ship often visited by turtles and whitetip reef sharks.
Dive the famous reefs of the Strait of Tiran - Jackson, Woodhouse, Thomas, and Gordon. These submerged mountains are known for strong currents that attract large pelagics. Drift along their walls, adorned with gorgonian fans and black corals, while keeping an eye out for schools of barracuda, patrolling hammerhead sharks, and graceful spotted eagle rays.
Then explore the wonders of Ras Mohamed National Park. This protected marine park is the jewel of the Sinai. You will dive iconic sites like Shark & Yolanda Reef - a world-famous site where you'll drift from the stunning Shark Reef pinnacle to the remains of the Yolanda wreck, its seabed still scattered with ceramic bathroom fixtures. The area is a magnet for sharks, tuna, and vast schools of fish. Shark Observatory is a dramatic wall dive where you can explore caves and gullies covered in soft corals (alcyonarians), all while watching the blue abyss for passing pelagics, and even the occasional whale shark. Anemone City and Ras Za'atar are sites renowned for their extraordinary forests of gorgonian fans, vibrant soft corals, and fascinating chimneys filled with glassfish and lionfish.
Your liveaboard tour will also include superb local sites like Ras Um Sid, famous for its beautiful gorgonian forest, and Temple, with its striking coral pillars. Depending on conditions, you may explore sheltered lagoons like The Alternatives or navigate the colourful passage of Small Crack.
You can expect 4 dives per day on each full diving day, with 3 dives provided on the penultimate day, before the South Moon cruises back to port.

Core Days
This special route designed by South Moon is a paradise for wreck diving enthusiasts, exploring the most famous and fascinating shipwrecks that the Northern Red Sea has to offer. The Dunraven was a British steamer that met her end in 1876 while bound for Bombay with a cargo of timber and cotton. She lies upside-down in 15-30 metres depth. The dive starts at the stern and takes you inside the hull where you can see Crocodilefish. You can also expect to see some groupers, lionfish and schools of glassfish. Above the bow you can enjoy a coral garden as you ascend from your dive.
Abu Nuhas Reef is home to 4 distinct wrecks from different eras, 3 are within a comfortable depth for recreational diving. The Giannis D was a Greek cargo ship that sank in 1983. Dive between 4-24m to explore its intact stern and bow, separated by a broken midsection. Don't miss the chance to enter the engine room via the funnel opening. The Carnatic was a classic 19th-century steamship, sunk in 1869. Lying between 16-27m, her intact bow and stern are adorned with soft corals. Legend has it, some of her cargo of gold bullion was never recovered! The Chrisoula K was s cargo ship, carrying Italian tiles, that met its end in 1981. Its true identity is part of its mystery, making for a fascinating exploration.
The Rosalie Moller is an exceptional wreck dive reserved for very experienced divers with deep dive or tec qualifications. With its shallowest point at 35m, this deep dive through blue water is rewarded with an intact ship and amazing pelagic life.
The Thistlegorm is arguably the world's best wreck dive. Sunk by a German bomber in 1941, this massive British transport ship is a time capsule. Explore its hauntingly preserved holds, filled with military cargo including trucks, motorcycles, and rifles. The wreck, lying between 16-33m, is also a thriving artificial reef teeming with marine life.
The Kingston, a small 19th-century British freighter, lies at Shag Rock. Starting at the intact propeller (15m), you can explore the engine room and boilers. The site also offers excellent reef diving, with frequent sightings of turtles, Whitetip reef sharks, and even dolphins.
The Ulysses sunk in 1887 and the wreck lies at 28m. You can swim inside the stern, now populated with glassfish and sweepers, while the surrounding reef is alive with anthias and butterflyfish.

Awake to your final morning in Sharm El Sheikh. After a leisurely breakfast, it will be time to check out from the liveaboard. You will then be transferred to Sharm El Sheikh airport or your local hotel, marking the end of an unforgettable week of diving with South Moon 1.
