Once welcomed aboard the Serenity liveaboard, you will receive a full safety briefing, settle into your cabin, and enjoy dinner with your fellow divers before the vessel departs in the early hours of the following morning.
Core Days
This safari focuses on 3 of the Red Sea's most legendary and isolated dive sites. The Serenity provides direct access to these exposed locations, often leading to spectacular encounters with large marine life. The isolated Daedalus Reef is a massive, current-swept pinnacle rising from the seabed. This site is renowned internationally as a primary aggregation point for schooling scalloped hammerhead sharks, which divers frequently encounter in the strong currents. Watch the deep blue for glimpses of giant manta rays, thresher sharks, and even the rare whale shark. The lighthouse wall is also home to vast fields of pristine hard and soft corals.
The Brother Islands (Big Brother and Little Brother) feature sheer vertical walls draped in immense gorgonian sea fans, anemones, and vibrant soft corals. These deep-ocean mounts are magnets for pelagics, ensuring high chances of sightings of oceanic whitetip sharks, silvertip sharks, and schools of tuna and trevally. At Big Brother, you can also explore historical wrecks, the Numidia and the Aida II, which are beautifully fused into the reef structure.
The itinerary is concluded at the world-famous Elphinstone Reef, a celebrated pinnacle known for its dramatic drop-offs and high probability of spotting open-ocean predators. Here, the reef is packed with schools of surgeonfish and fusiliers, while resident Napoleon wrasse patrol the colourful edges. The scuba action continues right up until the final afternoon's dives.
Day 8
You will wake up after a calm final night in the harbour and disembark the Serenity after breakfast.
Daedalus & St. John's (8 Days / 7 Nights - 20 Dives)
Trip highlights: hammerhead sharks, shark action, dolphins, manta rays, dugongs/manatees, turtles, schooling fish & big pelagics
Diving environment: advanced divers, caverns, drift diving, healthy reefs, very popular, wall diving
Dive sites and activities: Daedalus Reef, St John’s: Habili Ali, Gota Kebira, Gota Soghayr, Habili Gaffar, Dangerous Reef, Abu Basala
Day 1
Board Serenity at Port Ghalib in the evening. Settle into your cabin, set up your dive gear, and join the crew for a full safety and itinerary briefing over dinner. The boat remains harbour-side overnight, departing at first light.
Core Days
Waking up at Daedalus Reef puts you on the edge of a legendary offshore wall. This is the kind of place where you check your air more often, not because of depth, but because your attention is fixed on the blue. Vertical drop-offs host vast shoals of surgeonfish and fusiliers. Trevallies patrol in loose packs. And out in the current, if conditions play along, you might catch the silhouette of a hammerhead or the broad, blunt shape of an oceanic whitetip. Summer months sometimes bring manta rays gliding up from the deep. Serenity times the dives here for slack current where possible, giving you cleaner access to the reef’s colourful overhangs and gorgonian fans.
From Daedalus, the Serenity liveaboard dive route pushes south toward the St. John’s complex, a maze of reefs, pinnacles, and coral gardens that feel more remote than almost anywhere else in the Egyptian Red Sea. Habili Ali is a classic: a dramatic reef spine rising from deep water, where grey reef sharks often circle just beyond the drop-off. Gota Kebira and Gota Soghayr are geological highlights, small submerged islands topped with thriving hard corals, cut through with canyons and shallow swim-throughs. You drift past table corals large enough to hide behind. At Habili Gaffar, expect cleaner wrasses working on passing barracuda. Dangerous Reef lives up to its name in atmosphere only: steep walls covered in soft corals, with schooling bannerfish and snappers weaving between the cracks.
Abu Basala offers something different, more cave-like formations and shaded ledges where frogfish sometimes tuck themselves out of sight. Night dives here, often scheduled around calmer anchorages, bring out sleeping parrotfish and hunting lionfish. Between dives, Serenity keeps the rhythm relaxed. Most days include 3 daylight dives plus one optional night dive. The crew adjust timing based on tides and conditions, a practical touch that becomes obvious when you drift over Gota Kebira’s coral gardens at exactly the right moment.
Day 8
Wake up anchored back in Port Ghalib after a tranquil final night. Disembark after breakfast with the crew coordinating your transfer to the airport.
Hurghada (4 Days / 3 Nights - 9 Dives)
Trip highlights: dolphins, turtles, schooling fish & big pelagics

After preparing your dive gear for the coming days, you will enjoy dinner, getting to know your fellow divers before the vessel departs early the following morning.
Core Days
This diving tour focuses on the flourishing local reefs of the Hurghada area, which are ideal for a relaxed but rewarding dive schedule.
We explore the excellent dive sites around Giftun Island National Park, known for their thriving hard and soft coral formations and clear visibility. Here, you can encounter playful schools of bannerfish and snapper, as well as turtles grazing on the sea grass.
Further north, dive sites like Umm Gamar feature dramatic underwater topography, including steep walls and rocky formations. Divers should look for resident Napoleon wrasse patrolling the reef edge and be ready for occasional sightings of whitetip reef sharks.
A must-see location is Shaab El Erg, often referred to as Dolphin House. This large, horseshoe-shaped reef is famous for its resident pod of wild spinner dolphins, which divers and snorkellers often have the privilege of encountering in the shallows. The area also boasts healthy coral gardens and pinnacles, providing habitat for moray eels and macro life. The Serenity offers comfortable access to all these local gems.

The boat stays in port overnight, departing early the next morning. No diving on day one, just settling in and meeting the crew.
Core Days
The Serenity covers the northern Red Sea's greatest hits. Wrecks first. The Dunraven sits on a reef crest in Ras Mohamed, its hull split open and colonised by soft corals. You can swim through the wreck's interior, torch beams picking out the old boilers and scattered crockery. Glassfish crowd the darker corners. The Kingston wreck rests deeper, a less frequented site where the structure is more intact and the coral growth feels older, thicker.
Then Abu Nuhas Reef. A graveyard of 4 wrecks on a single reef crest, resting close enough to hit 2 in one dive. Soft corals have claimed the steel. Glassfish cloud the holds. Trevallies patrol the gaps between hull sections. These are sheltered dives, more forgiving for photographers.
North now, to the Straits of Tiran. 4 pinnacles rising from deep water, catching the full force of the Red Sea's nutrient flow. You drift. The current pushes you along walls plastered with soft corals. Schools of barracuda hang in the blue. Tuna and trevally shoot through. Jackson Reef holds a wreck of its own, the Lara, a shallow bonus dive. Preparation matters here. The Serenity dive guides brief hard, check your buoyancy, then drop you into the flow.
Shark and Yolanda Reefs deliver the classic Ras Mohamed wall dive. Steep drop-offs, huge gorgonian fans, and the famous toilets from the Yolanda's cargo scattered across a sandy plateau at 18 metres. Anemone City offers a shallower alternative with carpets of orange and purple anemones, each hosting clownfish. Jackfish Alley lives up to its name: bigeye trevallies stacked in the current.
The Serenity pushes further north to Dahab. The Canyon drops from 9 metres to 50, a crack in the reef table you can swim through if you hold your depth. The Blue Hole sits nearby, an infamous sinkhole with an arch at 56 metres. Most dives stay on the inside or along the saddle. Guides do not take recreational divers through the arch. They know the risks.
Guba and Gabr el Bent offer quieter alternatives, less current, more macro life, a chance to slow down. The Serenity crew adjust the route based on conditions and group experience.
Day 8
You wake in Hurghada harbour after a calm final night on board. Breakfast. Then goodbye to the crew. Disembarkation happens by mid-morning. The Serenity liveaboard returns you to where you started, with a logbook full of northern Red Sea dive classics.
