The Red Sea is famous for its large-scale diving resorts and super-yachts, but for divers who favour intimacy and quiet efficiency, a different kind of liveaboard experience awaits. The Sea Serpent Serena Dreams liveaboard is specifically configured for smaller groups, operating with a passenger limit of just 18 divers. This deliberate choice ensures a high level of personalised service and a refreshingly tranquil atmosphere, making it a distinctive choice in the competitive Egyptian dive market.

The diving tours for the Sea Serpent Serena Dreams are tightly focused on the celebrated northern Red Sea, offering concentrated access to world-class dive sites. As part of the experienced Sea Serpent fleet, the vessel regularly explores the premier dive sites of the Sinai Peninsula, including the vibrant pinnacle reefs of the Straits of Tiran and the historically significant, atmospheric wrecks found near Abu Nuhas. This route provides a rich and varied blend of colourful coral structures and deep historical exploration.

Operational ease is central to the experience for the maximum of 18 guests. EANx-certified divers will benefit from complimentary nitrox, an essential amenity for safely extending bottom times, particularly when conducting multiple dives per day. The size of the Sea Serpent Serena Dreams translates to a less crowded dive deck, facilitating quick and straightforward kitting up and water entry, enabling divers to focus solely on the underwater environment.

Accommodation caters to comfort and privacy across both the upper and lower decks. Guests of the Sea Serpent Serena Dreams liveaboard can select from cabins featuring double, twin bed, or twin bunk arrangements. Every stateroom is equipped with individual climate control, a private en-suite bathroom, and the provided convenience of fresh towels and bathrobes, ensuring a comfortable private retreat during the week at sea.

During surface intervals, the shared areas offer ample space for relaxation and socialising. The Sea Serpent Serena Dreams' main saloon and adjoining dining area are air-conditioned and furnished for comfort, hosting entertainment facilities and a library that conveniently includes specific fish identification books for post-dive species confirmation. Meals, which include a mix of international fare and Egyptian specialities, are served buffet-style.

Outside, guests can enjoy the sun and sea air across 2 appealing outdoor spaces. The top deck and a separate sun deck at the bow are well-appointed with soft seating and sun mattresses, providing ideal corners for rest or conversation between dives. The focused size, knowledgeable operator credibility, and attention to detail make the Sea Serpent Serena Dreams liveaboard a trustworthy and excellent value selection for certified divers.

Core Days
The itinerary is structured to provide an excellent variety of diving, balancing exposed oceanic sites with rich, protected bays. The remote Brother Islands, Big Brother and Little Brother, offer some of the most thrilling diving in the world. Rising sheer from the sea floor, their walls are carpeted in vast fields of soft coral and huge gorgonian fans. These current-swept conditions are ideal for pelagic sightings, including oceanic whitetip sharks, scalloped hammerheads, and the chance of spotting rare thresher sharks. Big Brother also allows divers to explore the historic wrecks of the Numidia and the Aida II, both of which are beautifully colonised by vibrant hard and soft coral growth.
Elphinstone Reef, another isolated pinnacle, serves as a crucial aggregation point for marine life. Divers frequently spot large green turtles and are often rewarded with sightings of giant manta rays gliding past the reef's exposed plateaus. The early morning dives here are particularly renowned for possible grey reef and whitetip shark sightings.
Closer to the mainland, sites such as Ras Turombi, Marsa Shoona, and Abu Dabbab provide a fascinating contrast. These sheltered reefs and bays are perfect for observation of dugongs, colourful reef fish, including immense schools of bannerfish and goatfish. Macro enthusiasts will appreciate searching the coral gardens for cryptic lionfish, octopuses, and a variety of rare nudibranchs. Cruising on the Sea Serpent Serena Dreams liveaboard ensures access to these diverse underwater landscapes.
Your diving schedule continues fully throughout the week, usually concluding with a final 2 dives on the day prior to disembarkation, as the vessel navigates back to port.

The Sea Serpent Serena Dreams liveaboard will then depart in the early hours of the following morning, heading north towards the dive sites.

Core Days
This dive itinerary is centered on the northern Red Sea's historical submerged structures and renowned natural reefs. We start by exploring the famed wreck sites. A major highlight is the SS Thistlegorm, a military transport ship sunk during World War II. Diving this massive wreck is a step back in time, as you pass trucks, motorcycles, and other wartime supplies in its holds. You will also dive the nearby Rosalie Moeller, another WWII casualty, and the 4 wrecks of the notorious Abu Nuhas reef, including the Giannis D and Carnatic. These wrecks are now completely covered in photogenic hard and soft corals, providing habitat for moray eels, pufferfish, and schools of glassfish.
In contrast to the wrecks, the itinerary features dives in the protected waters of Ras Mohamed National Park. These sites are famous for their rich density of colourful soft corals and gorgonian sea fans. Large schools of snapper, tuna, and trevallies patrol the current lines, while you can also observe hawksbill and green turtles, cryptic crocodilefish, and distinctive blue-spotted stingrays closer to the reef.
The exciting diving continues throughout the cruise, typically concluding with 2 or 3 scheduled dives on the day before disembarkation as the vessel begins its return to port.

Day 8
Enjoy a continental breakfast before disembarking at Hurghada Marina.

The time spent on the Sea Serpent Serena Dreams liveaboard is defined by a rigorous Red Sea diving schedule. The daily commitment to being in the water means a routine allowing for 3 to 4 dives on most days. This impressive number is reduced to 2 or 3 scheduled dives on the day before disembarkation, accommodating the vessel's return to Hurghada.

The dining experience is specifically tailored to sustain this activity, starting with a light pre-breakfast before the first dive of the day. Upon surfacing, you are greeted with a full, cooked breakfast before you prepare for the second dive. This morning meal features a special touch: the opportunity to order eggs cooked to your precise preference, alongside chicken or beef sausages, fresh breads, pancakes, juices, coffee, and tea.

Lunch and dinner are served buffet-style, offering a welcoming mix of International cuisine and authentic local Egyptian specialities. Main courses are hearty to replenish energy stores, and you can anticipate finding satisfying dishes such as oven-baked poultry, savoury rice pilaf, or fresh fish, accompanied by robust salads. A highlight of the evening meal is the inclusion of a hot, fortifying soup, a welcome feature after the chill of a night dive. The Egyptian selection adds depth to the experience, with potential specialities including wholesome lentil soup or rich, spiced vegetable tagines.

Throughout the day, afternoon snacks are readily available following the third dive, often featuring fresh fruit, miniature pizza slices, and chocolate biscuits.
Customer rating - Good
"It would have been excellent but they let themselves down by sailing a boat that wasn't fully seaworthy hence the leak which caused some distress on board not to mention wet and smelly rooms and clothes that had to be washed and dried personally. I think it was irresponsible of the crew to sail her knowing the problem beforehand. It could have potentially been a disaster.
Good communication with Dive The World and timely reminders of the important aspects of the trip.
